Welcome to The smARTcast, presented by smART Magazine, with in-depth interviews in the visual and performing arts and featuring your favourite artists.
IN THIS CLIP:
We speak with Tegan Quin, one half of Tegan and Sara, the Canadian indie pop duo that needs no introduction. The identical twins have made a name for themselves as one of Canada’s premiere pop musicians and queer icons of the last 20 years.
Ahead of their monumental 10th studio album, entitled Crybaby, Tegan joins smART Magazine from Vancouver to talk about how the album brings the band back to where they started. She also talks about a just announced series they’re developing with Amazon, entitled High School, as well as the evolution of their mission for the Tegan & Sara Foundation.
Finally, Tegan leaves us with some instrospective words on her journey through the Canadian music industry over the last two decades as a queer artist, plus some words of advice and affirmation for young artists coming up in the industry.
Preorder the album Crybaby, which is out on October 21st, at teganandsara.com, where you can also find out more about their North American tour that begins on October 26th.
